“PR” = “Page Rank” is one of Google’s ways of decide how popular your website is. PR is significantly influenced by the number of websites that link back to yours.
And it’s not just the number of sites which link back to your site (a “backlink”) but the PR of those sites. So you could have any number of sites with a PR of, say, 1 or 2, linking back to you, and they still wouldn’t count as much as a PR6 site linking back to you.
Even better, so it is said, if it’s a “one way” backlink, rather than a “reciprocal link” (where two sites exchange links), you’ll score even more Google points!
